Apple Pay makes it easy to pay for purchases with just a tap, but sometimes you may want to switch your default card — whether you’re chasing rewards, managing budgets, or just got a new credit card. Fortunately, changing your default payment method in Apple Pay is quick and simple.
Here’s how to do it:
On iPhone:
- Open the Settings app.
- Scroll down and tap Wallet & Apple Pay.
- Tap Default Card.
- Select the card you want to set as your new default.
That’s it! Your selected card will now be used automatically for all Apple Pay transactions — unless you manually choose a different one at checkout.
On Apple Watch:
- Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
- Tap the My Watch tab.
- Scroll down and tap Wallet & Apple Pay.
- Tap Default Card and choose your preferred payment method.
Changing your default card ensures you’re always paying the way you want — whether that means earning travel points, using a debit card, or anything else.
